Terms of Service & EULA
Last updated: July 14, 2026. InkSpine is currently a private beta. These terms explain the licence to use the beta, what to expect from an experimental build, and how your writing stays yours. Please read them before using the beta.
1. Who these terms are with
InkSpine (“we”, “us”, and “our”) is the software described on inkspine.app, currently offered as a private beta. For any question about these terms or the beta, email mk@inkspine.app.
If you install or use the InkSpine beta, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the beta.
2. Your licence to the beta
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the InkSpine beta for your own writing work. The software is licensed, not sold; InkSpine and its licensors keep all intellectual-property rights in the app, its design, and its code.
You may not copy, rent, resell, sublicense, distribute, publicly make available, or use the software to build a competing service. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, or otherwise attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent applicable law permits despite this restriction. You may not bypass access controls, probe or disrupt the software, or use it unlawfully. Nothing here stops you from making lawful backups, exercising rights that cannot legally be limited, or using your own manuscript files outside InkSpine.
3. Your writing stays yours
You keep ownership of your manuscript and other content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to write, upload, export, share, or publish that content. InkSpine does not claim ownership of it.
InkSpine is designed around local files, but software and storage can fail. Keep your own current backups and review any export before relying on it. You remain responsible for the final content of a manuscript and for whether a publisher, retailer, printer, or distributor accepts an exported file.
4. The beta programme
Beta builds are experimental and may contain defects, change substantially, become unavailable, or expire. We do not promise uptime, support, compatibility, feature continuity, or data retention for beta access. Do not rely on a beta build as the only copy of important work — keep independent backups.
We may suspend or end beta access, or the beta programme itself, where reasonably necessary to protect users, the software, or InkSpine.
5. No charge during the beta
The InkSpine beta is provided free of charge. There is nothing to buy on this page, and taking part in the beta does not commit you to any future payment. If and when a paid version of InkSpine becomes available, its price and terms will be presented to you separately and clearly before you are ever asked to pay.
6. Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the InkSpine beta is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device or third-party service, or fit for a particular publishing outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, including lost profits, lost data, lost business, or lost publishing opportunities arising from the beta. Because the beta is provided free of charge, our total liability to you arising from or relating to it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where that exclusion is not allowed.
7. Changes, law, and disputes
We may update these terms for legal, security, or product reasons. A material change will be posted here with a new update date, and continuing to use the beta after it takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
Please contact us first at mk@inkspine.app so we can try to resolve a concern informally. These terms are governed by Dutch law, except where mandatory law in your country of residence gives you greater protection. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law remain available to you.
